Positive: The hostel is above Mos brugers (a famous Japanese burger chain, try them they are really good). So the Mos burgers employees checked me in and kept my bag until check in. They seemed really nice and hard working. The place is a bit run down and not super clean but I appreciated that it was mostly me and 1-2 ladies in a 6 bunk bed room. The room had a fridge and it’s own bathroom with hot shower and good pressure. There is a hair dryer but no shower gel, shampoo, conditioner etc. The room had AC so it was warm and the walls went all the way to the ceiling so no sound traveled and I slept mostly well. In the common area there’s a microwave and few tables to eat. There are some bits and bobs left from other guests like extra adapters or gas stove, cosmetics, soare toothbrush etc. Which can be really useful.

Negative: I got the message (in Japanese) after booking that the check in is from 4PM-6PM. Very limited. I have only translated this message two days before arrival (as I am travelling long term so it’s hard to be on top of these things). My flight was to arrive at 6:30PM. The message said that only in extreme circumstances they allow check in after 6PM. I have sent them a response about my oversight but didn’t get a reply so I had to book something else for the first night that was close to the airport and change my booking here to exclude that day. Which was a bit of a faff. I never spoke to the owner or whoever runs the place. I saw her a few times when she brought new guests and showed them around. One evening I was on a bus that was passing the airport and a Japanese guy walked in and he ended going out at the same stop as me and then checking in after 7PM with the owner. His flight was not delayed or anything. It was the same flight I took that lands at 6:30PM. He took the bus from the airport at 6:45PM and we arrived there at around 7:15PM. She was here to check him in. I can’t claim that it was because he was Japanese but I don’t like double standards. The Wifi also is non-existent, it doesn’t show on the available wifis when in the hostel but downstairs at Mos burgers there’s a wifi with the name Yukaina Namatachi. There’s a random tune that plays for a few seconds every morning at 6AM, I am not sure why but just so you know if you are a light sleeper and want to sleep in.

Summary: I think this was the cheapest accommodation available at the time of booking. So I got what I paid for
