A delightful, spacious apartment in one of Reykjavík’s best neighbourhood, the Laugardalur. The house stands by the green valley where you will find a public swimmingpool a petting zoo a greenhouse restaurant called Flora, open in summers, and nice playgrounds. Just around the corner is a grocery store, a Thai restaurant, Huppa the icecream shop and a bakery/coffee called Passion. The apartment has a kitchen, dining area, a bathroom with shower and a bathtub and access to its own veranda.
The space
It is a lovely ground floor in an old family house my grandfather built in 1950 and this space was initially for industrial use, he produced candy here.
I was raised here but it was a challenge to change it into a functional living space and called for creative solutions that made the space fun and give it character. E.g. for increased light in the bathroom I created a window into the kitchen so now one can soak in the corner bathtub, open the window and possibly share a glass of wine with the one preparing dinner or just a conversation.
