Summary: The positive aspects of this hotel are that it's a good price and is in a good central location. The staff are polite and friendly. However, there are several areas that could be improved. The rooms didn’t feel entirely clean, not because of the cleaning staff, who seem to do their best, but because the facilities are somewhat worn down, with visible damage to furniture, walls, and fittings. While the mattress was comfortable, the bedding type slipped off easily and often touched the floor, which felt unhygienic.
Checkout is at 10am instead of the more common 11am, which is not great, and the lack of luggage storage service which is standard in every other hotel but not this one made it even more inconvenient. Lockers are available, but they come at an extra cost of 500 yen for medium size and 1000 yen for the larger ones that would fit a commonly carried large suitcase. Unfortunately, there are only four large lockers, and they were all occupied when we checked out, forcing us to make alternative arrangements and cutting into our final day in the city.
Additionally, there is no designated smoking area. Guests must request an ashtray from reception each time, which wasn’t ideal for privacy or convenience.
